#114 sitting in the hairdresser’s chair

I am not obsessed with my hair. Rather, i feel lucky that i have found a good compromise between ‘feeling good about my hair’ and ‘i dont have much time for this’. Controlled freedom. That’s how i call my hairstyle.

However, now and then, it is so so so nice to sit in the hairdresser’s chair and let my hair get a bit of pampering. Moreover, though i am quite relaxed about hair, i have been very picky choosing my hairdresser. That was, in fact, one of the key things i had to do when moving to London – to find MY hairdresser. Hairdresser has to know me, understand my personality, what i like, how my hair are, what hairstyle suits my lifestyle etc. And i feel so lucky i have found one who will never disappoint me.

Price: only 25GBP for haircut and styling;

Duration: about 1 hour;

Amazingness: great ‘feel-good’ after-feeling.

#71 fixing before throwing away

I tend not to buy many things, but the ones i buy normally stay with me for long. I get sort of attached to them as they become part of me, my image and my world. So, I have two pairs of knee-high leather boots – red and black – which i had been wearing for few years until recently when they just broke. In one case the heel just fell off, on the other case – the sole just broke in two halves. It looked like there is no way they can be fixed. I could not wear them, but i could not throw them away either.

Today i finally decided to bin them but before that i wanted to show them to a shoemaker and see maybe he wanted some parts of the boots which might be useful. As soon as they were laying on his table, he asked me: “why do you want to throw them away?” I said, well, but look! He said: “i can fix them! They will look like brand new!”

This was not at all what i was expecting, but hey – if he says he can repair, then let’s do it! It will be cheaper than buying new boots and these boots i know: they have been comfortable and have not disappointed me at all.

So, the big questions of life are: why to throw away if it can be fixed? Why to throw away if you can give a second chance, a second life?

Amazingness: i have not seen them repaired yet, but i feel it – they will do like brand new; i somehow trust that shoemaker;

Duration: will be ready in 3 days.
